The final opportunity to see the innovative Explorers: Narratives of site exhibition will coincide with the release of a stunning pictorial record of the show at tomorrow’s open day (Saturday 18 November 2017 from 10:00am to 4:00pm) at the Woodford Academy.
At 12 noon a catalogue showcasing the work of the 17 contemporary artists whose work is installed in the buildings and grounds of the Academy will be launched. The catalogue also features an essay on the exhibition by Dr Jacqueline Millner, Associate Professor of Visual Arts at La Trobe University.
The Explorers catalogue is not the only publication release tomorrow. It will be followed by the launch of Art at the Academy 2015-2016 which was initiated and produced by Academy volunteer Jacqueline Spedding, who also designed the Explorers catalogue and participated in the exhibition. This is the second edition in this series of books documenting the innovative cultural program showcasing contemporary Blue Mountains artists & performers in the Blue Mountains’ oldest building.
In the afternoon there will be the final curatorial tours of the show and the opportunity to meet with some of the participating artists – and as on the previous open days the Woodford Academy café will also be open so you can enjoy lunch, morning or afternoon tea with your visit. While the Explorers exhibition and public program are free, normal Woodford Academy entry charges will apply to visit the site:
- Adults: $6
- Concession/Child (4-16 years): $4
- Family (2 Adults, 2 children): $15
- National Trust Members: Free
